I'm Living Hot and Staying Cool!
SPONSORED POST
A few years ago when I was on assignment in the Caribbean, I woke up in the middle of the night feeling really hot. But I just assumed there’d been a power cut (a common island occurrence) and the generator hadn’t kicked in. Minutes later I felt cold, pulled up the covers, and went back to sleep.
This happened several times, and always at the Caribbean resorts I’d be staying in for work. I’d wake up hot; roll my eyes at the inefficiency of island power companies; and eventually fall asleep again when the a/c resumed. But then one day, it happened at home in Miami, where I KNEW the a/c worked just fine. And that’s when, after almost a year, I finally realized: I’d been having hot flashes!
That’s the thing about menopause: We don’t talk about it, so women don’t know what to expect and symptoms can catch you off-guard. For me, menopause brought – in addition to an amusing tale to tell at dinner parties – hot flashes, irritability, anxiety, and unexplained sadness.
And I’m not alone. According to the North American Menopause Society, I’m one of an estimated 6,000 women a day in the U.S. who is experiencing peri-menopause/menopause right now.* When I read in a recent issue of O, The Oprah Magazine that hot flashes can continue for up to NINE years - and that it’s not uncommon to have “power surges” into your 70s and beyond (!)- I knew it was time to do something. So I agreed to a complimentary trial of EQUELLE, a hormone-free‡, non-prescription supplement, for 12 weeks.
Now that I’m at the end of the trial, I’m happy to say that I’ve been having fewer hot flashes and getting higher quality sleep, which means that waking up early to meet my squad for a pre-sunrise long run or to hit the gym has become a LOT easier! Because I’m well rested, I’m no longer irritable during the day or finding myself desperate for a nap in the afternoon. Even better, I can’t remember the last time I had a “power surge” during the day. Now that my flashes have eased, I can concentrate on looking hot instead of feeling hot!
Don’t let the discomfort of menopause get in the way of living your best life. Check out EQUELLE and see if its right for you.
