5 Reasons To Visit Australia's Lord Howe Island
If you’re making your 2019 travel bucket list, here’s a suggestion: Lord Howe Island. Never heard of it? Neither had I until I visited last year. But there’s so much to know – and love – about this far-flung Aussie Paradise that’s home to just 350 residents and welcomes only 400 visitors at a time.
Five hundred miles from Sydney, this volcanic remnant was first settled by accident in 1788 by the crew of a British ship taking convicts to nearby Norfolk Island. Today the remote rock’s residents welcome a limited number of lucky visitors to experience its awe-inspiring landscape and marine life, as well as its small-island charm.
